The horses at Rancho Del Sueño undergo a continuous but gentle education over the course of their lives.  They are allowed to learn at their own pace and express their personalities and opinions at liberty.  Curiosity and play are encouraged, observed, and then shaped into a life discipline or purpose that best suits the individual horse.
As in traditional Spanish culture, our stallions are raised as the performers and ambassadors for their breed.  The education of the young stallions at Rancho Del Sueño begins in the herd.  Our colts are socialized with other horses and live together until they are around four years old.  They learn about boundaries and the proper behavior associated with living harmoniously among others.  This is a vital stage that teaches the colts important lessons in respect while at the same time developing their play drive so that we can then channel this exuberance and expression into their work.
At the age of four, our colts are placed into a daily training regime.  They are started at liberty in our round pens to refine their understanding of and response to body language.  They develop their patience and concentration skills before being introduced to the long lines and then finally started under saddle.  Each horse progresses at his own pace and is encouraged to express himself to show his inherent abilities and preserve his natural cadence and spirit

Our horses are carefully educated and schooled in classical dressage, reining, liberty and cordeo work, and/or elements of the performing arts for the purposes of exhibition, promotion, and their own healthy physical and psychological growth.
"You must in all Airs follow the strength, spirit, and disposition of the horse, and do nothing against nature;  for art is but to set nature in order, and nothing else."
